Yarn Circles Wellbeing Cards have been designed to provide opportunities for students to talk about their feelings, emotions, thoughts and ideas in a safe, positive and collaborative environment. This process reflects the traditional Yarn Circles time that was such an important part of the culture of our First Nations' people. We see it as an extremely important ancient practice that is now fulfilling a very modern need.

Yarn Circles Wellbeing Cards will provide opportunities for students to express themselves through oral language and therefore increasing the learning experiences. The activities are designed to help you draw on students' prior knowledge, circumstances, imagination, visual, aural, oral and written capacity to bring about increased understanding, acceptance, empathy, self-awareness, self-worth and the opportunity for positive change.

This collection of 30 laminated, full colour cards created by Yaegl woman Krystal Randall has been developed to pass on to children a sense of self and wellbeing, a connection to each other and an understanding of how Indigenous people feel their own connection to the land and their culture. Each card includes a symbol created by the author which clearly represents a feeling or emotion. The reverse side includes activities, Yarn Time ideas, Yarn further activities and professional guidance as well as the First Nations word for the feeling.

'My name is Krystal Randall, I am a proud Yaegl and Bundjalung woman, my father is a Bundjalung man and mother is a Yaegl woman. My passion is my culture and art work, teaching traditional dance, art and knowledge to our younger generation is important. My strength I chose and what describes me is Connection! I think being an Indigenous person connections is really important. Connection to Land, Culture, Community, Family, Language and most importantly YOURSELF! When you are connected with all of them things your spirit is happy."
