  • The traditional owners of the land our school sits on are the Wurundjeri people and their word for welcome is ‘Wominjeka’. I actually have it displayed in my classroom window.

  • Jingi-Wala, that’s hello in Bundjalung Language. I work at the Ballina Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, a long day care centre in Ballina on the Northern Rivers of NSW, where teaching the kids about their culture and language is a top priority.

  • Mornington Peninsula is home to the Traditional Owners, the Boon wurrung people, who have a unique relationship with the land and sea, and who have lived here for thousands of years.

  • Wanaruah peoples of the Hunter region. Anagunya is how we say welcome. The spelling changes depending on who you speak to.
